Introduction

In this article, you’ll learn how to set up a Microsoft Project connector using the available authentication systems.

Prerequisites

Before creating a Safran connector, ensure you have:

  • You should have the permission of Tenant Setup role to create a connector.
  • Installed the Desktop client on your machine or have the Autonomous component installed for your tenant (by Tenant Admin)
  • Authentication details (Depending on what type is selected)

How to create

  1. Access the IDE web application and navigate to Setup > Connectors
  2. Click on the button +New Connector
    • A modal will appear having the following required fields:
      • Title, Host System, Execution component
  3. Provide a meaningful title.
  4. Select Microsoft Project (MSProject) from the dropdown of Host System

Based on the execution component the modal will have different fields to add data.

  5. If Desktop Client is selected as execution component, observe that the only Authentication type available will be "Interactive" (so please choose that), and you will need to specify the following:
    • SharePoint URL
    • SharePoint ClientId
    • SharePoint TenantId
Here is the setting you need to configure, and they are shown with red numbers and described below:

  6. If Autonomous Component is selected as execution component then, the following fields are shown in the modal.
    • Authentication Type - Azure App Certificate
    • SharePoint URL

Here is the setting you need to configure, and they are shown with red numbers and described below:

  7. Get the field details from your Tenant Admin and fill in the required fields.
  8. Finally, click on create to finish the process.

Test & Persist

After creating the connector:

  • For Desktop Client execution:

    • Open the IDE Desktop Client

    • Navigate to the Connectors tab

    • Click Test to verify connection

    • Click Persist to fetch schedules and host fields from P6

  • For Autonomous Component execution:

    • Test is done periodically via a background job, but it can be also done using desktop client.

    • Alternatively: Go to Setup > Connectors in the web app, and open the newly created connector and click Persist to force retrieval of schedules and host fields from P6. After persisting, reload the page after a few minutes to verify the updated connector status.
